The Saints of August
In August the Orthodox Church remembers many saints; Orthros carries 60 of their lives, on 28 of the month's days. Among them are St Cyprian of Carthage (August 31), St Herman of Alaska (August 9) and St Micah (August 14). The month also keeps the Great Feasts of the Transfiguration (August 6) and the Dormition of the Theotokos (August 15). Dates are on the New Calendar; on the Old Calendar a fixed feast falls thirteen days later.
