The Saints of December

In December the Orthodox Church remembers many saints; Orthros carries 66 of their lives, on 29 of the month's days. Among them are St Nicholas the Wonderworker of Myra (December 6), St Barbara (December 4) and St Sabbas the Sanctified (December 5). The month also keeps the Great Feast of the Nativity of Christ (December 25). Dates are on the New Calendar; on the Old Calendar a fixed feast falls thirteen days later.
