The life of Priscilla and Aquila
Deeply moved by his teaching, they became his close companions, traveling with him to Ephesus and helping build up the young church there.
When a gifted but incompletely taught preacher named Apollos came through Ephesus, Priscilla and Aquila took him aside and explained the way of the Lord to him more fully. Paul spoke of the couple with real gratitude in several of his letters, calling them his fellow workers and crediting them with having risked their own safety for his sake. They later returned to Rome and then to Ephesus again, hosting the church in their own home wherever they lived. Church tradition holds that the couple were martyred together for their faith, though sources vary on the exact circumstances and place of their death. They are remembered as a rare example in the New Testament of a husband and wife serving Christ side by side.
