Our Holy Mothers the Martyrs Archelaïs, Thekla and Susanna (293)

Three virgins who fled the persecution of Diocletian from a monastery near Rome, cutting their hair and dressing as men, and settled in Campania to keep the ascetic life of fasting and prayer. God gave them healing, and they brought many pagans to Christ.

The life of Archelaïs, Thekla and Susanna

Denounced and brought to Salerno, Archelais refused to sacrifice to the idols and rebuked the folly of worshipping lifeless statues; the lions loosed on her lay at her feet, and a stone meant to crush her fell instead on her torturers. The three were beheaded about 293.
