The life of St Marina

From that woman, or from some wanderer who spoke of God, she learned the faith while she was still a child, and young as she was she promised herself to Christ and would not be moved from it.

She was seized in the persecution and shut up. The accounts say the enemy came to her twice in that cell, once in the shape of a dragon that took half of her into its mouth, and once in the shape of a man; that she signed herself against the first, and against the second took up a hammer that was lying in the corner and beat him with it until he left her. A light came into the prison after that, and she was healed of the hurts they had given her. Those who saw what followed cried out that they also were Christians, and the governor had them killed. She was beheaded among them, being still a girl.
