The life of St Leonty of Rostov
He was martyred about 1073; his incorrupt relics were uncovered in 1164, and this feast keeps that uncovering.
Leontius, a disciple formed under Anthony and Theodosius of the Kiev Caves, was made bishop of Rostov and labored for the enlightenment of a land still largely pagan. Driven out and once beaten by the heathen, he would not abandon his flock but settled nearby and drew the young to Christ by his patience and love, baptizing many.
