The life of St Job of Pochaev
Those decades placed him at the center of Orthodoxy's resistance to the Union of Brest, which pressed the Orthodox faithful of the region toward union with Rome, and Job answered that pressure with prayer and preaching, but also, decisively, with the printed page: using funds given by the landowner Anna Goyskaya, he established a printing house at the Lavra whose first work, a theological text by Cyril Trankvillion, appeared in 1618 and was followed by many more sent out to steady believers across the region.
He reposed on October 25, 1651, having lived past a hundred years and led his community for over half of them. Glorified within a decade of his death, his relics were recovered incorrupt in 1659, carrying a fragrance that struck those present, and rest still in a silver shrine within the Lavra's Trinity Cathedral.
