The life of St Domnina

Years of sustained ascetic discipline brought her to an unusual depth of spiritual maturity, and she became known throughout the city both for healings worked through her prayers and for a gift of foresight that led many to trust her word deeply.

Later tradition holds that she came to the city with four companions, that she lived on into the reigns of the emperors who followed Theodosius, and that she reposed in peace as a spotless virgin in old age. The exact year of her repose is not firmly established. Tradition also describes her passing as marked by a vision granted to those gathered with her at the end, though this particular detail rests on later devotional memory rather than an independently confirmed record.
