Callistratus and Companions

Martyr Callistratus and Companions

A soldier of Carthage, raised Christian, betrayed by a comrade; sewn in a sack and cast into the sea, he was carried unharmed to shore, and by his witness forty-nine of his fellow soldiers came to Christ. Cast bound into a lake, their bonds broke and crowns shone above them, and at last they were cut down by the sword in 304.
