St Studios

Blessed Studios (5th c.)

Studius was a man of the Eastern Roman Empire who held the consulship in the year four hundred and fifty-four, sharing that office with Aetius. He was a Christian in earnest. In Constantinople he founded the monastery that afterward carried his name, and the year given for it is four hundred and sixty-three, though it may be that he raised it before he ever held the consulship.

The life of St Studios

Little else of him has come down to us. Neither the year of his repose is recorded nor the manner of it. He is remembered for the house he built, which stood in the capital long after him, and the Church keeps his memory among the blessed of the fifth century.
