St Euphrosynos the Cook of Alexandria (9th c.)
Euphrosynus was a humble monk of simple birth who served as cook in his monastery, hiding a life of unceasing prayer and fasting under the lowly labor of the kitchen. When a priest of the house prayed to see paradise, he beheld Euphrosynus there and received from him three apples of paradise, which he found in his cell on waking, fragrant and whole; by them the sick were healed.
