From the Nativity of Christ (December 25) through the eve of Theophany, the Church keeps a fast-free feast. All foods are kept, including on Wednesday and Friday, in the great joy of God made man. The fast returns only on the strict eve of Theophany (January 5) before the blessing of the waters.
